Borax is the least concentrated sodium borate product, because it has the most bound water (10 molecules). It is found in detergents, and personal care products. It is used to make glass, ceramics, and insulation. It is a flux in metal recovery, wire drawing and refractories. It is also a corrosion inhibitor in automotive antifreeze, and a preservative in casein-based adhesives.

V-BOR® is a more concentrated form of sodium borate because it contains less bound water (5 molecules). It has most of the same uses as borax. It is also used to neutralize skins/hides in leather tanning, corrects boron deficiency in plants, reduces melting temperature in glass process, is a fire retardant in cellulose insulation, and is used to make a bleaching agent for home laundry.

PYROBOR®, or anhydrous borax, is the most concentrated sodium borate product because it has no bound water. It is used to manufacture heat resistant glass, high quality glass, refractories and enamel glazes requiring high color standards.
